Jury Duty Scam Alert
A Jury Duty Scam has resurfaced in the Eastern District of Missouri. It has been reported that a person receives a call or message from someone identifying himself or herself as a Deputy U.S. Marshal or officer of the court. The caller states that you failed to report for jury duty, you are the subject of a criminal investigation, and that a warrant has been issued for your arrest.

ATTN: All Attorneys Practicing Criminal Law in US District Court - Eastern Missouri
The Court has adopted practices (these practices may already be standard for some judges) concerning modification or revocation of bond, as well as waiver of indictment. The new procedures are set out in the attachments below. These procedures will take effect immediately.

The Court is pleased to announce that District Judge Catherine D. Perry is this year’s recipient of the American Inns of Court Professionalism Award. The award was presented at the Eighth Circuit Judicial Conference in Rogers, Arkansas, on May 5, 2016.

Hon. Catherine D. Perry has set Tuesday, April 19 at 9:30 am in Courtroom 3N of the Thomas F. Eagleton Federal Courthouse for public comment on the proposed consent decree in the case of US v. Federal Courthouses in Eastern Missouri Will Still Accept Missouri IDs for Entry Into Courthouse
The US Marshal's Office in Eastern Missouri has released the following statement in response to concerns that Missouri state IDs would no longer be accepted in federal courthouses due to the federal Real ID Act: "At this point in time we are not changing our identification and security procedures in response to the Real ID Act.

Proposed Amendments To Local Rules

Chief Judge Catherine D. Perry announced today that the district judges of the United States District Court have selected Judge Patricia L. Cohen to fill the upcoming vacancy for United States Magistrate Judge. The selection was made from nominees submitted by a Merit Selection Panel consisting of attorneys and lay persons residing within the district.

Chief Judge Catherine D. Perry announced today that the district judges of the United States District Court have selected John M. Bodenhausen to fill the upcoming vacancy created when United States Magistrate Judge Terry I. Adelman retires in April 2015.
Local Rules - Proposed November changes take effect
Several amendments to The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri’s local rules took effect yesterday. No public comments were received on the rules. The rules are effective immediately but are still subject to review and approval by the 8th Circuit Judicial Council.
Instructions - Re Registration Fee Payment Instructions
Pursuant to Local Rule 12.01(D), all attorneys admitted to the Bar of the Eastern District of Missouri must renew their membership every four years. The purpose of the re-registration is to keep the court's attorney database accurate.
Lawyers admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri will be hearing from the Clerk of Court beginning November 17, 2014. Every member of the bar will receive an e-mail message explaining the court’s requirement that lawyers renew their registration and provide an update of their profile.

Ronnie L White Appointed District Judge
United States District Judge Ronnie L. White began his full-time work in the Thomas F. Eagleton Building at the beginning of August. He is in the process of receiving and reviewing his assigned caseload, hiring his staff, working with counsel on his assigned cases, and gradually receiving new cases as they are filed.
Notice of Juror Phishing Scam
A number of district courts have reported in the last few days that citizens are being targeted by a juror phishing email. This email asks recipients to provide personal identifiers (SSN, DOB, mother’s maiden name, etc.) on an attached PDF form to be emailed back to the originator. A sample of the scam email is included at the end of this notice.

Attorney Admission Process Is Now Electronic!
The Eastern District of Missouri will be implementing a new electronic attorney admission process beginning August 1, 2012. An applicant, seeking admission to the Eastern District of Missouri, will be able to complete an application for admission online and submit the application and fee using CM/ECF.
