Retroactive New Mileage Rates
March 6, 2013

As noted in Judge Hogan’s memorandum dated January 15, 2013, (New Mileage Rates Effective January 1, 2013) all judges, employees, and jurors were eligible to claim the increased mileage rates for POV, motorcycles, and airplanes for travel performed on or after January 1, 2013.

Divisional Realignment Act of 2012 goes into effect December 4, 2012
December 4, 2012

Effective December 4, 2012 the counties of Iron and Ste. Genevieve will move to the Southeastern Division of the Court. All newly filed civil and criminal cases that originate from these two counties will be assigned to the Southeastern Division. Cases that were filed and opened on or before December 3, 2012 will remain in the Eastern Division and will not be reassigned.

Congratulations to the Judicial Learning Center, Recipient of the 2012 Spirit of Justice Award

The 2012 Spirit of Justice Award was presented to the Judicial Learning Center in a ceremony held in the Starlight Ballroom at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel on Friday, October 5th.   Chief Judge Catherine D. Perry accepted the award on behalf of the Board of Directors of the not-for-profit Judicial Learning Center.  Judge Perry said “…the Learning Center is a gift to the people of St. Louis from the Lawyers of St. Louis.

Attorney Admission Process Is Now Electronic!

The Eastern District of Missouri will be implementing a new electronic attorney admission process beginning August 1, 2012. An applicant, seeking admission to the Eastern District of Missouri, will be able to complete an application for admission online and submit the application and fee using CM/ECF.

PRO BONO OPPORTUNITY
September 13, 2011

Attorneys in the Eastern District of Missouri have a unique opportunity to provide pro bono service to unrepresented civil litigants in the United States District Court. With a recent amendment to Local Rule 6.02, the Court has authorized the appointment of counsel to provide limited scope representation for a litigant whose case has been referred by a judge to alternative dispute resolution. This new program was suggested by the Court’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Committee and was approved by the judges of the Court in June 2011.
